The National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFOŚiGW) has announced the launch of a new support program aimed at accelerating the deployment of zero-emission heavy-duty vehicles (eHDVs) in Poland. With a total budget of PLN 2 billion, the initiative is expected to significantly support transport companies in transitioning their fleets towards electric trucks.
The program will provide financial incentives for the purchase of zero-emission heavy-duty vehicles, helping to reduce the upfront investment costs that currently remain one of the main barriers to the large-scale electrification of freight transport. By lowering the entry threshold for fleet operators, the scheme is intended to stimulate market demand and support the broader decarbonisation of the road transport sector.
The launch of the program represents an important step toward building a viable market for electric heavy-duty transport in Poland. Combined with the parallel development of high-power charging infrastructure along TEN-T corridors and logistics hubs, such support mechanisms are expected to accelerate the adoption of eHDVs and strengthen Poland’s role in the European transition toward zero-emission freight mobility.
The program also reinforces the broader objectives of the LIFeHDV project, which focuses on enabling the large-scale deployment of electric heavy-duty vehicles through the development of charging infrastructure, market cooperation, and regulatory dialogue. The availability of vehicle purchase subsidies significantly increases the practical impact and market relevance of the project, as it complements infrastructure development with concrete support for fleet electrification. Together, these mechanisms create a more complete ecosystem for the growth of zero-emission freight transport in Poland.

The new program complements the NFOŚiGW initiatives launched earlier this year, which support the development of charging infrastructure and grid connections dedicated to heavy-duty electric transport. Together with the previously announced schemes, a total of PLN 6 billion has been allocated to support the comprehensive transformation of the heavy transport sector in Poland. This scale of support places the Polish funding framework among the most competitive and ambitious public programs for zero-emission freight transport in Europe.
